Virtual Carnival Day

With these challenging times ahead the carnival team has put together some plans for a Virtual Carnival on the 5th of July 2020.

On the 5th of July, the day when we would normally take to the streets to celebrate Oxford’s amazing community, we are making plans to stream a Virtual Carnival on Carnival day. We want you to still get that carnival feeling and join in, wherever you are!

Here in Virtual Carnival-land we have been putting together some ideas to bring the spirit of Carnival to your front garden, balcony or door step.If you could have your perfect Virtual Carnival, what would you like to see or take part in on the 5th of July?

We’ve already got some DJs, musicians, dancing, delicious street food recipes and refreshing cocktails as well as face painting classes, sing-a-longs and the famous Carnival procession. But we want more.

It’s you that makes Carnival so special. Sadly we can’t bring you to Carnival, so please let us know what you would like US to bring to YOU.

So let’s see your creative side, get your household together and your cameras ready, have fun and then send the videos to us so that you too can be part of Virtual Carnival Day.

We want to showcase all the brilliant artists, musicians, stall holders, traders and communities who make Cowley Road Carnival the celebration we know and love. Here are some ways you can get involved in our online carnival.

If so please do send us some photos or videos so that we can join them all up together and make a Virtual Carnival procession.

Or if you’re not yet a drummer but have always been interested – we will be creating online classes around making and playing drums…

We’d love to see what you learn and make that part of the Virtual carnival on the 5th of July.
